We are working in partnership with local education authorities to build
a brighter future for school children in Ghana.

We have just started a scholarship scheme that we believe will grow into a great tool to motivate younger students to stay in school longer and apply themselves while learning.

As we get more involved in Ghana, we notice that there are students throughout the KEEA district who are brilliant but needy. Many of these students are from the rural areas where farming or fishing is the livelyhood of the parents. Basic Education through JHS is free at the government schools however for a high school education it becomes a shared expense. Many students do not have the resources to continue, so lose drive and ambition.

We have decided to offer as many scholarships as we can raise funds for to the top students from any government school in the district.  Some of these scholarships could be day fees only if the commute is not far but if funds allow, most of these scholarships should include boarding as this provides the student food, a bed and a structured schedule to study in a suitable area with electricity. A luxury not available to most students while living at home.

The cost of 3 years of H.S. with boarding is around 1750 Cedis (Day fees only 700 cedis).  That works out to just GBP20,  EUR 25 or US40 per month per student (using current exchange rates) for boarding.    We plan to pool resources among donors, so we can commit to a student each time we reach pledges of that amount.

We have developed this blog so donors would get to know about all the “TOMORROW’S STARS” they are helping to educate. Just click on the name and you will find information on that student as we update the student profiles each term with grade cards and reports written by the student themselves.

Can you help us make a difference?
